Cut
Copy Lights And Music MODVL091 PRE ORDER |
Listen:A1 - Original |
| A2 - Boys Noize Happy Birthday Remix | ||
| B1 - Superdiscount Remix | ||
| The new single release from Melnourne's Cut Copy, produced by one half of the DFA production team (Tim Goldsworthy), sticks to the indie dance pop formula that has made them a name to check for in the past couple years. An infectious guitar and vocal hook make this as catchy a single as these guys have ever released. No meandering; this radio edit is focused and straight to the point. Superdiscount (aka Etienne de Crecy) takes the track and stetches it ouuut, giving it room to breath and get techy in the mix. Whilst the Boys Noize's remix is uncharacteristically understated, the result is a real classy, Daft Punkian (think "Face To Face") interpolation from the German boy wonder who has definitely shown his diversity with this release. | ||

Mind Electric Gotta Keep On VG12069LP |
Listen:A1 - Original Mix |
| A2 - Mind Electric's Regroove | ||
| B1 - Drive Remix | ||
| Gotta Keep On is Mind Electric's latest release on Vicious and it sure packs a punch. M.E rips his synths senseless as the track builds and builds finally delivering the goods as the strangley compelling vocals emerge from the background. The Regroove is a tech-funk bomb, as the original gets cut up and twisted until the angular synth patterns explode like a supernova. The Drive Remix seals the deal with a more straight ahead main room mix, a little more settled than the Mind Electric mixes but anyway you look at it this tune says anthem! | ||

Vandalism Smash Disco VG12069LP |
Listen:A1 - Vandalisms V8 Mix |
| A2 - Original Mix | ||
| B1 - Kam Denny Remix | ||
| B2 - The Cut Remix | ||
| Vandalism hit the rock disco button with this electro charger. The band’s massive exposure in Europe has likely contributed to the development of what is an instantly recognisable and quite Euro electro sound.“We’ve been quite lucky with the artists we’ve hooked up with, so we’re getting some main-room tune type people coming to our gigs who are expecting anthem type tracks, and then we have the indie kids coming who want to hear a bit of guitar. It’s a mixed bag,” says Andy Van of their diverse infulences but far from sounding like a mixed bag, Smash Disco pulls elements together seamlessly earning it a rightful position on this years Annual. | ||

Cabin Crew Can't Stop It VG12055LP |
Listen:A1 - Club Mix |
| A2 - Mind Electric Mix | ||
| B1 - Aviators Remix | ||
| B2 - Kaskade Remix | ||
| No strangers to the ARIA dance charts, Cabin Crew return with the uplifting and hypnotic 'Can't Stop It'. The Cabin Crew boys have once again demonstrated a perfect balance between pop and house. Mind ELectric and Aviators provide some tougher club remixes, whilst Kaskade delivers a lighter, more acoustic mix which beautifully underpins the vocal. | ||

Isaac James Darker Shades Of White VG12058LP |
Listen:A1 - Rob Pix Mix |
| A2 - Hong Kong Blondes Makeover | ||
| B1 - TV Rock Remix | ||
| B2 - Colt Figure Remix | ||
| Isaac James has been doing big things on the UK dance charts with his take on the electro-pop phenomenon. On this 12" we find an allstar remix cast re-working this infectious tune for every dancefloor. Rob Pix offers up a spaced out discofied mix which dubs out the vox giving his crisp production breathing space. The Hong Kong Blondes put the pedal to the metal with a high octane electro masterpiece, with Daft Punk style glam guitar synths cascading over a pounding beat. The TV Rock mix is a floater, uplifting and anthemic with a strong throwback to 80s dance pop. The Colt Figure Remix rounds out the package with a slightly more twisted electro mix, a staunch pounding snarler that screams get up and dance. | ||

Listen: A1 - Cocaine |
| A2 - Move Your Likkle Ting (Nick Thayer Remix) | ||
| B1 - Got It Like (Jon Ohms Remix) | ||
| B2 - Walter's Place | ||
| Australian Funk and Breaks DJ, Mark Walton serves up the first EP release from his brilliant new album Fretless, a superbly produced journey through funk, breaks, disco, reggae and the roots of hip hop. The Discgoes EP similarly delivers variety and quality from his laid back, but downright funky take on JJ Cale's cocaine, to the spacy disco magic of Walter's Place. Both sides feature exclusive remixes, with the golden boy of Australian breaks, Nick Thayer pushing the reggae infused Move Your Like Ting up several weight divisions till it punches like George Foreman, and local groove don, Jon Ohm's giving the 80's style hip hop jam Got It Like, a seriously funked up makeover.Fans of All Good Funk Alliance, Feature Cast, Fort Knox Five...this is a must. | ||

Elroy
& Tom Piper |
Listen: A1 -Original |
| A2 - Acid Jacks 303 Jackmaster Mix | ||
| B1 - RobKAY Mix | ||
| B2 - Nick Thayer's Rok Raydio Mix | ||
| The original has club stomper written all over it, and shows just about every facet of what makes electro so enticing. There’s a ripping fash-trash lyric that compliments the banging bassline, a buildup that adds some lush pads and sharp stabs, not to mention the occasional clever layering of some neatly underplayed percussion that adds depth to the overall sound. Short review: it’s hot. | ||
| RobKAY’s mix electrifies things to a greater extent than the original, while stripping the lyric back and adding some neat percussion of his own – essential stuff for fans of his previous releases. | ||
| The Acid Jacks mix is their usual supercharged mastery and rounding off the package is the Nick Thayer pres. Rok Raydio Mix, which injects a light breakbeat underpinning some more funked up cut and paste work. | ||
| It’s been said a thousand times, and it’s true that as Aussie’s we love patting ourselves on the back for world class production quality, but I don’t care. This is world class electro house. Get on it if you like to dance. | ||

Nick
Galea ft. Emily BBMV002 |
Listen: A1 -Original Mix |
| A2 - Dub Mix | ||
| B1 - Elroy & Tom Piper ft. James TaylorMix | ||
| B2 - John Glover & Implex Mix | ||
| New Australian production sensation, Nick Galea, is rapidly rising to the top of the heap. Nicks sound is built around a combination of warm enveloping Electro basslines, sweet melodies, tough drums and secret ingredients all tracks being true epic pieces. The Little Things is no exception. Emily's uplifitng vocals float over driving beats and an irresistably funky Electro bass hook. Tight. | ||
| The Tom Piper/Elroy/James Taylor mix adds some bounce. A more jacked up affair, the trio warp the bass and scatter the vox injecting some space into the production. | ||
| The John Glover & Implex mix is more deep and proggy, building beautifully over multi-tapped apeggios and giving more play to the vox over the break down before delivering the mail with an arena sized reworking. | ||

| It has come to our attention that two of our artists have been missing. While the islanders were busy ‘bumping uglies’, these two frequent flyers were transported to another dimension. Also, for some reason, all the rum is missing. Anywho, while they were there, they wrote this song, and brought two new artists back with them. Introducing "Bermuda Nights" and our new friend, Twocker. | ||

| Aloha my fellow holiday goers. Your friendly Vacation crew is back with another musical getaway, and this time it's from the captain himself. Bump Uglies is an auditory orgy where everyone and anyone can get off together. It's stripped back arrangement, and pounding bass will leave you screaming for more. So turn off the light, and turn up the heat. This is music to dent the headboard to. | ||

| B2 - Pretend | ||
| Sidwho? co-producing with local prodigy Phil Rogers kick the debut EP off with the A side "Can't wait to go to Mexico". Hooked up & twisted vocals, lead understated guitar licks over Berlin inspired glitched percussion, which explodes with every drop of the ass shakin' bassline. | ||
